Got Rest?

I don't know about you but sometimes I find it difficult to stop what I am working on in the late evening.  As a result, I go to bed after midnight or even 1 am!   What can it hurt you say.

During my health challenge process I was taught rest especially during sleep is an important process to detox cells and cell renewal.
  • Rest helps give the body energy allowing for an increase focus and productivity.
  • While sleeping the body can rid of waste material and repair cells.
  • Those with diabetes especially need a good night rest.
Some tips to help wind down in the evening include:
  1. Dim the lights.
  2. Turn off computers and television one hour before bedtime.
  3. Aim for lights out between 10pm and the latest midnight.
  4. If a big problem is keeping you awake write out the issue in your journal, pray, brainstorm some resolution ideas, and revisit in the morning.
  5. Give thanks for the day before bedtime.
  6. Listen to harp music before bedtime which is calming and soothing.
  7. Make sure phones and computers are far from your bed or even turn off the wi-fi at night.
In all, rest will help you cope with life stressors and tasks better.  Lack of sleep and rest can result in a weakened immune system, fatigue and sluggishness.   Self-care is so important and can give you a more productive life!
